Another TBT'er is NBA bound.

On Sunday, Stillwater Stars guard Armoni Brooks inked a deal with the Rockets. He's the fourth TBT’er on an active NBA roster, joining Juan Toscano-Anderson (Golden Eagles, Golden State Warriors), Brad Wanamaker (The Untouchables, Charlotte Hornets), and Devin Cannady (Playing For Jimmy V, Orlando Magic)

Brooks was born in Waco, Texas and attended University of Houston from 2016-2019. After his junior year, he elected to enter the NBA draft but went undrafted. He played briefly for the Atlanta Hawks before being waived and returning to their G-League team, the College Park Skyhawks.

He was planning on playing in the Canadian Elite Basketball League with the Saskatchewan Rattlers last summer, but was unable to as a result of COVID-19. This allowed him to join the Oklahoma State alumni team as a TBT grad transfer. In their lone game last summer, Brooks logged seven points and five rebounds.

Since then, Brooks was drafted by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the first round of the 2021 G-League draft. In 15 games, he averaged 16.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.07 steals per game. He also led the G-League in 3-pointers made with 57, while shooting 37.5% from deep. He was planning on traveling overseas to play professionally in France before signing a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets.

“I was actually in the airport on my way to go to New Zealand (to play in the professional league there),” Brooks told Fox 26 Houston. “I got a phone call, and they said they signed me to a two-way (contract), and I just started crying in the airport.”
