Mavunga is not the only one in his family to play professionally in Indiana

The tradition of playing basketball in the Hoosier state is strong for the Mavunga family, and this weekend, Julian Mavunga and the Fort Wayne Champs were able to showcase the best of Indiana basketball.

Mavunga scored a team-high 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds in a dominant 84-66 victory over Illinois BC to earn a spot in the Super 16.

But Julian isn’t the only Mavunga to shine for a Midwest team –  his younger sister Stephanie plays for the WNBA’s Indianapolis Fever, and his wife Jeanette is now retired from the same team.

These two very important women in his life certainly make Julian proud. Basketball brings them together, even when they disagree about a particular topic.

Though Stephanie was unable to attend the Midwest Regional due to the Fever’s schedule, the support was still strong nonetheless.

Fort Wayne Champs’ next test is against Team Fredette in the Super 16, and Mavunga plans to keep up his momentum and scoring down in Atlanta.
