TBT 2018 stars looking for NBA call-up at G-League Showcase

Once again, the eyes of the basketball world are fixated on Sin City. No, you didn't sleep through winter and wake up just in time for Summer League. Instead, some of the best prospects in the world have converged upon Vegas for the annual G-League Showcase. With 10-day contract season quickly approaching, this is the time for players to prove that they have what it takes to compete at the next level. As you have probably come to expect by now, TBT'ers are making the most of the opportunity.

Jaylen Barford (Jackson TN Underdawgs) - Greensboro Swarm

Barford has been on a tear since leading the Jackson TN Underdawgs to a first-round upset over Zoo Crew in TBT 2018. The Arkansas grad signed a training camp deal with the Charlotte Hornets a couple weeks later, spent the preseason with the squad, and is currently second on the G-League's Greensboro Swarm with 18 ppg. In Thursday's win over the South Bay Lakers, Barford finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.

John Gillon (Boeheim's Army) - Erie Bayhawks

John Gillon has quite literally grown up in front of our eyes here at TBT. In the summer of 2017, Gillon was a newly minted Syracuse grad playing with some of the best players in program history. Just about a year-and-a-half later, he's established himself as one of the most reliable guards in both TBT and the G-League. He lived up to that reputation in Wednesday afternoon's win over the Texas Legends, racking up a 15-point, 10-assist double-double.

Dusty Hannahs (Team Arkansas) - Memphis Hustle

The fact that Hannahs is tearing up the G-League should surprise exactly zero people who watched TBT 2018. The Little Rock native averaged 19 ppg for Team Arkansas in Brooklyn, including a 26-point outing in their opening-round win over the Tim Thomas Playaz. He replicated that performance on Thursday afternoon in a 124-113 win over Wisconsin Herd, finishing with a stat line of 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Dallas Lauderdale (Scarlet & Gray) - Maine Red Claws

While he doesn't always get the big headlines, Lauderdale has been crucial to Scarlet & Gray's success the past two summers. The same rings true in regards to his role with the Maine Red Claws. Sticking true to the brand, Lauderdale found a way to do a little bit of everything against the Lakeland Magic on Wednesday. In 23 minutes of work, Lauderdale scored 9 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, dished out an assist, and shot a perfect 4-4 from the field.

Scott Machado (GaelNation) - South Bay Lakers

It seems like Scott Machado has been making headlines every other day as of late. When he's not dropping 15 points on the Kings in preseason play, he's signing deals with the Lakers. When he's not doing that, he's putting in work for Brazil at the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. Most recently the Iona alum made waves in front of the Mandalay Bay crowd on Thursday, scoring 13 points and dishing out an impressive 8 dimes against the Greensboro Swarm.

Willie Reed (Eberlein Drive) - Salt Lake City Stars

Don't be surprised to see Willie Reed on an NBA roster sometime soon. Since helping Eberlein Drive advance to the TBT 2018 Championship Game, Reed was drafted No. 1 overall in the G-League draft and is currently averaging 20.4 ppg and 11.4 rpg for the Salt Lake City Stars. He continued his hot season on Thursday, finishing with 16 points and 11 rebounds against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

Duncan Robinson (Big X) - Sioux Falls Skyforce

He's currently on a two-way deal, but it's only a matter of time before the Heat call up Robinson permanently. In 13 games at the G-League level, Robinson is averaging 19.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg, and 2.2 apg. In Thursday's 108-95 win over the Canton Charge, Robinson dropped 17 points, grabbed 2 rebounds, and dished out 2 assists. The Michigan alum helped coach Big X to a first-round, come-from-behind win over the Chattanooga Trenches in TBT 2018.

Christian Watford (Eberlein Drive) - Raptors 905

What a few days it's been for Eberlein Drive big men! Watford kept the good times rolling, finishing with 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists against the Memphis Hustle in Sin City. The Indiana alum came up big in Eberlein Drive's win over Team Fredette in Baltimore, scoring a crucial 6 points in 12 minutes of work.

Briante Weber (Ram Nation) - Sioux Falls Skyforce

When you watch Briante Weber play, it becomes quite obvious that havoc-style basketball translates well to the professional game. Although he didn't join the team until the Super 16, we got a taste of that in TBT 2018 when Weber averaged 8 ppg, 3.5 rpg and an impressive 1.5 spg. He put that VCU flair on display yet again on Thursday, scoring 21 points, pulling down 4 rebounds, and dishing out 7 assists against the Canton Charge.
