Regional Standings May 2

 

Let’s take a look at the standings as of May 2, 2015. The positions and the vote tallies of these teams are subject to change and what is published here may not be reflective of the standings as they currently exist on TheTournament.com.

Northeast

The top-7 teams from last week's rankings remain the same this week, although some shuffling has gone on. Syracuse and Lynchburg College Club Basketball hold down No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, while WOYG and TRIUMPH leapfrogged HBC for the third and fourth spots. Horsemen and Liberty Ballers flip from where they were last week. Sideline Cancer, playing in honor of the Greg and Cathy Griffith Family Foundation, cracks the top-10 for the first time, and should be a team to look out for. GM/coach Billy Clapper has previously stated he has some innovative ideas to increase his vote total. The Citi Team and Team Mill Rats round out the top-10.

Midwest

"Worst to First" continues to be the rallying cry for Eberlein Drive, which has the second highest vote total in the entire field. Armored Athlete, One Chicago, Sconnie Legends and the Majerus SLU Crew round out the top-5 for the second straight week, with Sconnie Legends jumping the Saint Louis alumni team. The Wisconsin alumni team made a noticeable jump with more than 50 votes this week, moving to sixth place. The Xavier alumni team hopes for similar results, as it cracks the top-10. Illinois Hoopville WarriorsMinnesota Flame and Houston Live all remain in good standing in the bottom half of the top-10.

South

Top-6 remain the same with Showtime still in the top spot, followed by the Brooklyn Blazers, The Jabroni ProjectTeam Krossover, the Oklahoma alumni team and TEAMBDB, in order. Showtime, Blazers and Jabroni Project have been able to separate themselves from the pack. The team to look out for is Dunk City, the Florida Gulf Coast alumni team. They had an article posted about them in Sports Illustrated, and have yet to really turn that buzz into votes. Team GM, Liam Jones, feels no pressure, he's confident he can get the backing of college basketball fans who remember Dunk City's rise during the 2013 NCAA Tournament. DFW Squad slides down to No. 8, just ahead of Sean Bell AllStars, which remains at No. 9. The Bowling Green Bandits replace Heat Check in the final spot.

West

Through the first month, it's been a two-team race out West with Cali Boyz and Global Select trading spots atop the standings. Colorado Buffs Alumni has risen to third in just two weeks. Despite cooling down since its initial start, Colorado is in striking distance of Cali Boyz. 7Outz became the fourth West Regional hopeful to hit the 100 vote mark with Seattle Pro AM in the fifth spot. Tec Nation Elite, comprised of San Diego State alumni, is still in the process of getting former Aztecs on the roster, but maintains its position just outside the top-5 followed by the Los Angeles Dragonswhich went from unranked to No. 7. Team 23, another newcomer to the top-10, surpassed the Pistol Shrimps, the all-female team, for eighth while The E League, which currently has the best verification video, submitted by Jesse Morin sits at No. 10.
