He had been quiet for the first four rounds of the Tournament. Not on Thursday night.

Kyle Fogg scored 10 of his 38 points to key a 26-4 game-opening run, and three-time TBT champion Overseas Elite jumped all over the Golden Eagles early and cruised to an 85-60 victory.

“It was about time that I made a shot or two,” said Fogg. “I got some good work in this week. I was able to go stay with (point guard) Errick (McCollum), and he got me prepared for the games. Coach believed in me, and I was able to knock down a couple of shots. Guys kept getting me the ball, so I was able to stay hot.”

McCollum knew that the hot start was crucial in establishing Overseas Elite’s dominance right from the tip.

“We’ve made the mistake many times of getting down early and having to battle back and having to exert so much energy,” said McCollum. “We just knew that, today, and every year in this Tournament, we’ve got to bring it even more because the target is on our back. As the champion, if you take away their heart early, they start to lay down.”

D.J. Kennedy contributed 14 points in the win for Overseas Elite, which never trailed in advancing to its fourth straight title game.

Overseas Elite has now won 24 consecutive games over four summers, and only one final game stands between this group and yet another TBT title.

“It’s going to be a tough group to beat,” said Overseas Elite coach Marc Hughes.
