Launched in 2014, The Basketball Tournament (TBT) is a national, $1 million winner-take-all competition that anyone can enter. By using social media to democratically determine who qualifies, we’re pioneering a new frontier in professional sports. As the Chief Marketing Officer, you’ll be directly responsible for building the TBT brand, particularly through social media, and for formulating and executing a plan aimed at selling out games and establishing an audience for our nationally televised broadcasts on ESPN. You will also evaluate and shape the online fan incentive structure.

Responsibilities

  • Build and foster an active online community of players and fans.
  • Manage public relations.
  • Oversee the user experience across website, ticketing site, and social media profiles.
  • Seek out and vet new marketing opportunities.
  • Continually evaluate and report on performance of all marketing initiatives.
  • Develop an intimate knowledge of the players and their stories.
  • Build and manage content publishing calendar

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree.
  • Five or more years of social media marketing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work both independently and within a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytic and communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of user-experience design and online analytics.
  • Experience with paid media buys.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passion for sports, particularly basketball.
