A slow start didn’t mean a quick TBT finish for Big X.

CJ Jackson put back his own missed floater to propel Big X to a 79-74, come-from-behind victory over D2.

“The guys told me to be a little more aggressive at the end,” said Jackson, who also opened the scoring for Big X during the Elam Ending. “I had a couple of wide open shots. It all worked out for us.”

Nick Ward had a team-high 18 points to pace the scoring attack for the group of former Big 10 standouts.

“Nick was pretty much dominating the whole game,” said Big X player-coach Andrew Dakich.

Javon Bess added 11 points, and Khalil Iverson pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, in the win for Big X, which received scoring from 10 players.

Kevin Capers led all scorers with 25 points on 8-for-11 shooting in the losing effort for D2, which squandered a 15-point, second-quarter lead. Mike Davis added 15 points in the losing effort for D2.

Big X advances to face Red Scare, the Dayton University alumni squad, on July 8th at 2:00 PM EST.
